Why I Built This

I spent over 20 years inside the Social Security Administration — working my way up to District Manager. I saw how the system actually works: the rules they publish, the rules they don't, and the difference between the two. I saw good people lose benefits they'd earned because the process failed them, not the other way around.

When I left government, I didn't retire. I got to work. I built the tools I wished every American had — the same checklists, the same insider scripts, the same "here's what you say when you call" guidance that I gave to my own family. And I made all of it free, because the people who need it most can't afford to pay for it.

If you're wondering whether your check is right, whether you're missing something, or whether you can fight back after a denial — you're in the right place.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does Social Security pay on average?
The average Social Security retirement check is $2,071/month in 2026. But your amount depends on your earnings history and when you claim. Claiming at 62 permanently reduces your benefit. Waiting until 70 gets you the maximum. Use our free guide to find your optimal age.
Am I eligible for benefits I don't know about?
Very likely. Over $30 billion in benefits go unclaimed every year. SSI ($994/month), SNAP, Medicare Savings Programs, Extra Help with prescriptions, and spousal benefits are the most commonly missed. Take our free 2-minute benefits check to find out what you're missing.
What changed with WEP and GPO in 2025?
The Social Security Fairness Act (signed January 5, 2025) eliminated the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO). If you have a government, teaching, or railroad pension, your Social Security may increase. The change is retroactive to January 2024. Contact the Birmingham office to check your benefit.
Can I work and still collect Social Security?
Yes, but there are limits. Before full retirement age, you can earn up to $24,480/year without affecting your benefit. On disability (SSDI), the Trial Work Period threshold is $1,210/month, and Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) is $1,690/month. See our full working-while-on-benefits guide.
What's the difference between SSDI and SSI?
SSDI is based on your work history — you paid in through payroll taxes. SSI is based on financial need — for people 65+, blind, or disabled with limited income and resources (up to $994/month). You may qualify for both. The application process is different for each. Start with our SSDI guide or SSI guide.
How do I find Medicare plans in Morris, AL?
Morris residents in ZIP 35116 can compare Medicare Advantage plans, Part D prescription drug plans, and Medigap/Supplement options through Chapter Medicare — free, no obligation. Call (352) 841-0632 or use the link on this page. A licensed advisor will walk you through every plan available in your zip code.
