$13B More to MA Plans in 2027

27 Specific Tactics Inside
⚠ Why this matters now
CMS finalized the 2027 Medicare Advantage Rate Announcement — and reversed course.

In January, CMS proposed a near-flat 0.09% raise for Medicare Advantage plans. After heavy industry lobbying, on April 6, 2026 they finalized a 2.48% increase — over $13 billion in additional payments, or roughly $26 billion when risk-score trend is included. Plans might pass that through as expanded benefits. They might not. Your only real window to make sure you benefit: the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 – December 7, 2026.

★ The truth about "$0 premium" plans

You paid for the steak. Don't accept the hot dog.

You did not get this for free. You paid FICA taxes for 40+ years. You pay $202.90 every month for Part B in 2026. General tax dollars cover the rest. When your plan says "$0 premium," that means $0 additional premium — you already paid.

Insurance companies count on you not using the formulary exception. Not appealing the prior auth. Not spending the OTC card before it expires. That's how they win the year. This checklist is how you stop letting them.

Get every benefit you already paid for.

What did CMS announce about Medicare Advantage for 2027?
On April 6, 2026, CMS finalized a 2.48% net increase in Medicare Advantage payments for 2027 — over $13 billion in additional payments to plans, or about $26 billion (4.98%) when accounting for risk-score trend. Plans may use the new revenue to expand benefits, hold premiums steady, or simply increase profit margins. The Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7, 2026) is when you can review the changes and decide.
When can I change my Medicare coverage?
The big window is AEP — October 15 to December 7 — for coverage starting January 1. If you're already in a Medicare Advantage plan, you also get one switch during MA-OEP (Jan 1 – Mar 31). You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period right now if you've moved, gained or lost Medicaid or Extra Help, moved into or out of a nursing home, or your plan lost its Medicare contract. Medigap policies can be applied for year-round, but after your initial 6-month Medigap Open Enrollment, insurers may use medical underwriting in most states.

Is this really free? What's the catch?
There is no catch. The checklist is 100% free. 24Help.org is an independent educational resource — we are not a licensed insurance agency, and we do not sell Medicare plans. If you want a personalized plan review, you can call our partner Chapter directly at (352) 841-0632. Their licensed advisors compare every plan in your area at no cost. That part is optional. You will receive the checklist either way.
How often will I hear from you?
1-2 emails per week — usually just one. We only send a second email in the same week if something time-sensitive affects your benefits (a CMS rule change, an enrollment deadline, a new program). We are not here to sell you. We are here to help.
Will you sell my email?
Never. Your email is used only to send you benefit updates from 24Help.org. Period.
